Taylor Gold
Taylor Gold, alongside her best friend, renowned doctor, Andreea Seicean began working, to self-fund educational events, as well as provide financial aid for male youth requiring mental health therapy. We have given countless scholarships for sports programs ranging from soccer to sailing. Taylor has spent her entire life from childhood working on fundraising campaigns. I can remember being six years old, working with sponsors and pairing corporate leaders in pro-am golf tournaments with my father throughout the country. Without dating myself - I have worked on everything from "Save the Whales "to pioneering a program in high school to provide volunteer opportunities to high school students -at a time when colleges were looking for more than academics and traditional clubs. I have worked with groups like the Jewish federation, while living in San Sebastián denostia Spain I worked with the San Sebastián film festival which in itself funds a myriad of organizations. I have been a donor to the NRA gun safety program. Wildlife conservation. There are a million great charities out there and my favorite thing has been to personally connect and mentor men giving them open communication with peers as well as mentors and opportunities as well as just answering the phone and asking friends what can I do to help. Right now, I am raising a 13 year old son who is bombarded with the wrong messages from the wrong people. The young men do not communicate their needs, fears, hopes because they are taught to be tough and get through it alone or face ridicule. This is an era where the bar for schools and colleges is so high and pressure immense. The cost of living and home ownership seems unreachable and they all expect instant success. The media outlets show nothing but "influencers making millions even billions doing very little" They are missing the beauty of life's trials. The moment they are faced with adversity they choose both bad options. Unfortunately, these times are fraught with pressed pills containing lethal drugs, and the internet showing high risk behavior and even abuse being celebrated and making more money for more shock. I have come to realize that a nation without strong men has no future. This is not only affecting kids with financial and socioeconomic hurdles. This is happening to very successful young guys who feel they must live up to their parents success. We know from statistics that these kids aren't making long term plans for suicide. They are making snap decisions after a girl breaks up with them, or they get cut from a team, parents divorcing. You name it - we know that these choices can be made within hours with kids that you would never imagined faced depression. I can no longer quietly fund kids as a hobby. I feel passionately that we must bring this up everyday and work as a country to educate kids, community leaders and parents about the importance of communication and building coping skills and having people to call the minute they are down.
